My special Mother's Day

We were still recovering from a trying photo session the evening before (more on this later!!), but we started our day off with caffeine-infused fervor and thankfulness.  Sure, perhaps a certain almost 3 year old was extremely oppositional during our family pictures on Saturday evening, but he woke up with a smile and gave us big hugs on Sunday morning, virtually erasing the frustration we had with him the evening before.   Sure, the clock read 6:30am when Davis woke up, but he laid quietly in his crib and cooed so that I'd come pick him up.....and BONUS:  when I did, he gave me a huge grin and kicked his arms and legs in excitement, helping me forget how tired I felt.  I know that we are beyond blessed to have two healthy and happy boys.  We really hit the jackpot with our two boys.  I love our little family and they made my Mother's Day the sweetest one yet.

We took a walk on a nearby trail in the morning.  The dogs really enjoyed romping through the tall weeds and searching for game to scare up.  Davis slept for most of the walk and Mitch and I laughed at our energetic toddler as he sprinted ahead of us.

When we got home, we made a picnic and walked down to our park.  It was starting to warm up, so we didn't stay as long as Cal liked, but it was still nice to sit outside and soak up some rays.

That night, Mitch grilled steaks and Fresh Market was kind enough to prepare some delicious sides and amazing desserts.  :)  Mama didn't have to cook all day and I loved it!

Davis was writing in my memory book for me.  Cal later drew a big picture of: a turtle, a wildcat, a city, a rope, and another turtle.  He also told me that he thought I was special because I had bones in my legs and I made good fruit snacks and mac n' cheese.  I aim to please.  :)

Davis just loves his big brother so much and the feeling is mutual.  Cal has started to play and talk with the "little fella" and they laugh and converse together.  It makes me melt.

I want to thank my sweet hubby for spoiling me all day and helping our family make wonderful memories.  To my sweet boys who made me a Mommy.....I live for you.
