Uncle Tony came to visit!

Tony came home for a visit last week and it was so great having him home.  He played in the 3-man golf tournament with Dad and Mike Yeager.  Mitch usually plays in this tourney and he looks forward to it every year but one of his good friends was getting married in Indiana so he went there instead.  We all missed him, but he had a great weekend with his buds.

Cal is currently teething.....eight teeth.  There should be another word for teething when it encompasses molars and various other pearly whites.  Something like, "Crankypants-itis" or "Goodluckgettingmetoeat-osis" would be more appropriate.  Poor Cal doesn't have much of an appetite and has been battling a 101 fever for 2 days.  The kiddo won't maintain his 100th percentile weight ranking for long if all he'll eat is bananas and cantaloupe!  His milk consumption has increased two-fold since that's all he wants recently.

Anyway, I'm going to back track and post pics of Tony's visit now, which were pre-Crankypants-itis.

Cal is tall, but doesn't look so big next to Uncle Tony!

Time for a cookie-stealing sequence!

Larned has an amazing Splash Pad that's free to the public so we inhabited it frequently while home.  Cal LOVES it.  LOVES.  He would run between the sprinklers and chase the other kids around saying, "Hiiiiiii!".  At times he needed encouragement so I ran through the sprinklers with him.  Despite the 110 degree temps, the water was still icy cold but you got used to it after awhile.

Aunt Susie came to visit and then we all went to eat at The Pub.  I've been going to this bar/restaurant since I was itty bitty and have always been a fan.  The apple doesn't fall far from the tree because Cal ate his fair share of burger, tots, fries, and tacos!

He selected this shirt for his uncle....."Tony's Nice Slice Favorite Pizza".

"Up!"

Mom, Cal, and I watched the boys play Hole 18 of their tourney.

We then went over and swam with our friends.  Maddox Machado and Cal had lots of fun playing, sharing sippy cups, wearing each others shoes, etc.  However, Cal has a habit of patting kids on their heads when he meets them and Maddox wasn't a fan.  Although it's inappropriate to hit, in Cal's defense, Maddox has an amazingly lush head of hair and I wanted to pat it, too.

"Hey....dirt!  Let's eat it!"

He just couldn't help himself.

Big smiles for Great Grandma....

"Here, you look hungry."

New favorite activities at Grandma and Grandpa's:
lay in the dog beds

stack and unstack plastic containers and bowls

open and close cabinets

On Sunday, we went back out to the course and watched the boys play in again.

After dinner and a bath, it was play time with Grandma Annie.

He loves to put toys on his head and others' heads.....a big gigglefest ensues.

The night ended when Cal discovered that he could climb into the dogs' toy bin.  The poor guy promptly toppled forward into the brick hearth, but came out of it with only a slight scratch.

Cal loves to climb on everything now, i.e. the books that he throws off of the shelves, the dogs, his chair, his drum, and most recently his sippy cup.  I think we'd better double check our wall mounts to assure they're secure!!

Fun in the hot, hot sun

It's been 100 degrees, or hotter, for atleast two weeks and we're running out of creative things to do inside the a/c.  Luckily a cold front is pushing through and we'll be in the upper 80's/lower 90's all week!  We've never been good dancers and clearly that's still the case because our rain dances have continued to leave us in a drought.

We've been to the Swim Beach and the gigantic Gage Pool several times this summer, in attempts to stay cool.  Cal loves the water.  He even tries to kick his legs when he's on his belly and sticks his face in the water.  He really likes the fountains at Gage Pool and played in them for most of the trip!

Running through the water...

Clapping in the water...

Trying to step on the water...

Trying to drink the water...

On the 4th of July, we went to the swim beach.  It was 106 out that day so the water was nice and warm.  The beach wasn't as packed as we expected.  We only took one picture, but he was festively dressed so it needs to be shown.  :)

We tried to take a few that day, but he wasn't in a modeling mood.
The only smile we got on camera was when the dogs were trotting over to him!

While I was filling up his water table, he grabbed the hose and drank from it!

Welcome to the Walter Water Park, er, commonly called the Walter's garden hose.....

He loved running through the spraying hose!

He'd run through it and then do a wide arc and come back for more.

This has nothing to do with water, except for the thorough bathing we had to give him afterwards.  He loves pudding and decided that he wanted to feed himself tonight.

Cal's Date Night

Before we went to KC, Cal decided I needed to reorganize my tupperware drawer. He's such a good helper!

On Saturday. we went to KC to celebrate the engagement of Suz and Chad.....and I didn't take a single picture of the adults.  The kiddos stole the spotlight!  Cal loved the Hachenberg girls!  He didn't receive the warmest reception at first, but Alex eventually ran away from him at a slight trot instead of the spry sprint she originally greeted him with.

Alex literally cowered away from him!

He was trying to share her drink....or just take it....hard to tell.

Look at Alex hiding in the background!  She was wondering, "Who is this grabby, huge boy in my house?!"

"So....can I call you sometime?"

Cal, Morgan, and Alex (who was still trying to hide!)

Aiden was so sweet with Cal.  He let him climb all over him, put up with Cal pushing his fingers into his mouth to touch his teeth, and shared his comfy seat with him.
