Christmas 2014

We drove to Larned on Christmas Eve and enjoyed some outdoor time despite the cold temps.
We walked over to the High School and participated in some friendly competition!  For the record, Mitch technically beat me in long jump.....but barely....ok, by at least a foot.

All bundled up and ready to run!
"Wait for me, guys!!"

There she is.....the former long jump (not "champ", because I never was #1) so maybe more just a simple "competitor".

Then this happened:  Mitch wanted to show Cal how he could do a summersault.  Instead, this series of pictures makes it appear that he's tripping!  I love it....laughing so hard right now.

His turn on the long jump.....

When we got home, Cal and Papa participated in an intense game of Memory.

That evening, we opened some presents at Great Grandma's house.  The boys got these fun chairs from Santa, who made an early stop by Great Gma's just for them.

This toy is a hit with both boys.  It's basically like whack-a-mole....Davis LOVES IT.  He also hits it better with his left hand, for the record.  (Mitch has his fingers and toes crossed!!)

This sweet boy was giving Mimi lots of love that night.

Open mouth, slobbery kisses are the best kind when they're from Big D.

Christmas morning!  They looked so cute in their jammies.  I've always loved Christmas, but seeing it through your kids' eyes makes it so much more magical.  Cliché, perhaps....but oh so true.  Cal was completely in "Santa mode" and Davis follows his lead.  It was a great holiday season with our boys.

Cal was the resident present opener helper....

Santa pulled through!!!  Cal got the Ninja Turtle Car that he wanted so badly.

Davis loved his present from Uncle Tony and Misha!

Griswold Family Christmas shirts.....they were a great find on Zulily.  :)

We got out and tested Cal's scooter!  Cal was super excited about trying it out and Davis wanted in on the fun, too.

Don't fret....he got his turn!

Once we got home, we opened presents from Grandpa and Grandma Walter and Baba Belle!

OB supervised the event....

Cuuuute shirt!!

Look at our superheroes!!!  Davis immediately started toddling around the house with his cape on.  Cal had to sprint......they LOVE them.  Thank you, Gpa and Gma Walter!

The drum set is a hit with both boys.  :)

Cal and Mitch have spent several nights pouring over the books that Baba Belle sent.  Cal loves to read about the dinosaurs and discuss which snakes he might find in Costa Rica.  Thank you so much for sending such perfect books for our boys!

We made a trip to Yo-B the next afternoon.  Davis clearly doesn't like froyo.....at all.

Thank you to all, near and far, for giving our boys such a wonderful Christmas!

Cal's message from Santa

Santa sent Cal a message before Christmas.  It was so precious watching Cal's eyes get wide with amazement and listening to him answer Santa's questions.

Christmas is so magical, especially seeing it through a child's eyes!

Our week....

We got 3" of snow this week.  Right when we got home from school, Cal wanted to play in it!

Our boys received matching snow light up Spiderman snow boots from Jingle Jacob one night.   It was a pretty well-timed gift!  :)

The next night, Jingle Jacob's "pals" got a little tired of his Christmas cheer.....

I took Cal for his first dentist visit this week!  He did great, but was a bit nervous at first.

Mitch got home early on Friday and we ventured to the park down the street.  It was still chilly, but nice to be outside none-the-less.

Both dogs enjoyed the outing, too!

Fat O-Bird was trying to stir up some game....

On Saturday night, we took the boys to our favorite Mexican food restaurant.  We put on quite the show for the other patrons.   Davis didn't want to sit in the highchair, so he wiggled and stood and climbed all over me while we ate.  Cal did really well and ate a fair amount of his dinner!

Davis loved the salsa?!?  Funny kid!

When Mitch's margarita came out, Cal said...."WOW!  That's a big bowl of applesauce!"   lol!!!!!  I love the way that kid's mind works.

We met the Schlatters at Bradley Fair for some carriage rides.  However, due to the extremely long line, we opted for a quick photo by the big, beautiful tree and a few drinks at the Schlatter's house instead!

Cal gave Lizzie a foot rub! lol

The next night, I walked into the kitchen and Cal was chugging eggnog out of the carton!?!?  I asked him who taught him how to do that and he replied, "Paul did."

We made a Gingerbread house later that night.  It was about 10 minutes post-creation that someone (myself) broke off a piece to sample the end result.

Davis really wanted some!!  He got his fair share.....don't you fret.

Jingle Jacob sampled the house last night......

Cal happily cleaned up the Smarties that Jacob dropped.

I sent Cal's picture into the news station for Photo of the Day.  He made the news!!
