Mama is slackin'.

Our household was taken over by the stomach virus these last two weeks.  Davis had a touch of it 2 weeks ago, then I got it for 3 days.  Fast forward to Tuesday night when Davis puked on me, himself, the carpet, the bed (you get the picture) for 12 hours.  Knock on wood, I think we're all on the mend.

A few weeks ago, we packed up and headed to KC for two baby showers that I was helping host.
Davis watched some Gabba to pass the time....

....and Cal was very interested in his Planes Fire and Rescue, which he's watched no fewer than 20 times in 2 weeks.

First up was Suz's baby shower on Saturday morn.  Mitch took the boys over to his friend's house and they played with a Jackson and Nora for a few hours!

We stopped by my cousin, Tessa's house.  She and Eric are so sweet to our boys!

That night, we went to Hoff's house for dinner and drinks.  Cal and her girls played and played and played.  Davis tried his best to keep up with them.

These two are a little crazy together, much like how their mamas are when they're reunited.  :)  Unlike them, we keep our clothes ON!  lol

Crazy kids.

Oh wow.

We were just about to leave and I wanted a pic with all the kids.  Cal thought it'd be funny to pick his nose the whole time, hence my hands holding his down!

The next morning, we celebrated French and her soon-to-arrive baby girl!

When we got home that night, Davis made up a new game.  A really sanitary game....ugh.

He's quite the helper in the kitchen lately!  This is how he spent his time one evening while I cooked.

Unfortunately later that week, both Davis and I got the stomach virus.  He got over his quickly, but my fever and virus lasted for two days.  Ollie urged me to eat soda crackers to regain my strength.  :)

That weekend, we took the boys to the KSU vs. Baylor game.  Cal was really excited about the halftime show.  DMX bikers were making daring jumps and Cal thought they were awesome!

Meanwhile, Davis spilled our full popcorn and proceeded to eat it off of the floor.  lol

We met the Gillespies at the Zoo on Sunday.  The weather was beautiful for a day outside!

Cal is quite the dancing machine!  I love how Davis starts stomping one leg when he dances!

This kid is definitely a Walter.  He LOVES Mexican food.....especially salsa!

The boys enjoyed the cookies that I brought home from a friend.

Poor Davis woke up with another round of the stomach virus that night.  We were up all night and he puked all over himself, me, his crib, the spare bed where we slept.....you get the picture.  The next morning, I gave him a bath and he was feeling much better!

He LOVES the water!  He likes to lay back and float....

The weather warmed up this week and the boys and I played outside for an hour before dinner.

Donnie was so excited that we were outside with him.  He was being a gentle giant and licking Cal all over his face.  It was precious....and I wish he would be that way more often!

This weekend was even warmer.....temps in the 60's!  We went fishing at the pond near the Gillespie's house.  Cal and Ella both caught a fish!

After our fishing expedition, we went to El Agave for Mexican food.  It was a great end to a great weekend!!

Cal and Ella are so cute together!

"Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right." -Oprah

I'm not a die hard Oprah fan, but I like her enough.  This quote spoke to me, though.  I don't know if my expectations have changed now that I have two kids and no time to worry about every little thing, but to me this quote serves as a reminder that we all make mistakes, strive to be better, beat ourselves up, etc........but the beauty of life is that we're all works in progress.  Nobody is perfect.

Onto a lighter note.....this quote also spoke to me:

I took this picture on 12/31/14 right before Mitch walked out the door for the Alamo Bowl.  The boys and I stayed home and had 4 days of mom and son(s) time.

This sweet dog is so laid back.  She lets Davis crawl and lay on her, with just a minimal growl followed immediately by an apologetic lick.  She's the sweetest.

The Gillespie girls were our dates for NYE!  Kristin and I took the kids to El Agave for dinner.  They were pretty well behaved and we enjoyed catching up!  Her husband, Travis, went to the Bowl with Mitch and Paul.

Davis wasn't very excited about the highchair, but once in my lap, he ate pretty well.  Cal eats Mexican food so well and gobbled his plate up.

On New Year's Day, we woke up and I was trying to read emails at the table.  Both boys came over and demanded some attention.  Cal is VERY interested in spelling and reading.  He would say a word and then I'd make the sound for the letter.....then he'd type it!  We spelled, "mommy, daddy, cal, davis, dog, van".  Davis sat on my lap and was content to be in on the action, while devouring some yogurt raisins.

Later that morning, the Gillespie girls came over and the kids played for a solid 2 hours!

Avery turns 1 in a few days and Ella is a month older than Cal.  It's so fun having such good friends with kids the same ages!

Even after the solid morning of play, Cal refused to nap!  He's kind of phasing out of them, although we know he still requires some rest because he gets zombie-like by the day's end.

His new thing to say to me (while pretending to be mad) is, "You're not the only mommy in this house!"  lol.   I think he hears the girls play house/dolls at school?!?!  I don't know, but it makes me laugh.

Here he is giving me a stern talking to.....

Later that day, I took them to DQ for some ice cream.  Davis thought it was hilarious that Cal was sharing his ice cream with him.  He couldn't believe his good luck!

Cal loves to tell me stories about Snuffleupagus.  He changes the setting and details with each story.  Usually at bedtime, if I lay with him. we create stories back and forth about Snuffleupagus's adventures.

Davis discovered the joy of olive fingers at dinner one night!

Cal joined in on the olive fun!

I was cleaning up the table and looked into the living room to see our little dare devil doing this.  Awesome.  It's probably safe, right?

I remember Cal doing something similar, actually!

The next day, we went to My Gym with the Gillespie girls.....who else would we hang out with?!?!  lol

After naps, the boys did some painting.  It was terribly cold outside, so we were hunkered down indoors and looking for things to do.   Oh and yes, they're wearing the same outfits because I thought the game was on the 1st.  It was on the 2nd, so I washed them that night and they wore them again the next day!

You can't really tell in this pic, but Cal has started sticking his tongue out of his mouth when he's concentrating while writing/drawing/painting.  Apparently that's an inherited trait because Mitch did it as a child, too!

Check out Davis's left handed painting abilities.  :)  (Mitch is cheering while reading this.)

The painting quickly turned into painting themselves, their mommy, and the floor.  We wrapped things up and headed for the bathtub!

He gave himself a questionable look......resembles a certain famous German villain, don't you think?

Here's a pic of the KSU Crew at the Alamo!  They met Dad and Tony in San Antonio and a great time was had by all!

Dad and Mike, aka "The Bobs"......they're hysterical together!

Mitch got home late on the 3rd.  It started snowing and blowing horribly on their drive home, but thankfully they arrived safely.  The next morning, we played inside with the boys and they sported their capes from Gma and Gpa Walter!

After naps, we bit the bullet and played in the snow.  It was our obligatory snow outing......BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
