Memorial Day Weekend

We went to Larned for Memorial Day Weekend.  Mitch and Dad played golf twice and the boys and I hung with Mimi and Great Grandma.  It was a great weekend, but we were exhausted when we came home on Sunday and I'm sure my folks were, too.  :)

He picked some flowers for Great Grandma.  (Sorry, mom....your daisies were casualties of the gift giving.)

Bath time!

Ollie loves a clean baby....well any baby, really.....especially one that's just been freshly lotioned.

Davis kept rocking in his chair.  He was buckled in and I didn't leave his side while he rocked, so I let him get after it.  He had a ball!

Big D and Papa

After Mitch and Dad played golf on Saturday, the boys and I rode the cart around the course and played a few holes.

Davis loved the cart and was excited to have his turn at driving.

Cal had a blast using the big club.

I love this pic!  He was so excited that he got it into the hole.

The next day I got the boys down for a good nap.....at the same time.....high five to myself.

Look at how they both placed their feet!?!?!  So funny.  They're definitely brothers.

Photo time!

Cal recruited all of us as his playmates over the weekend, but I think his favorite was Papa.  Luckily for Cal, his Grandpa is a jokester and is good for a few dozen games of hide and seek.

We took the boys to the zoo on Monday.  It was a lot of fun and the weather was perfect!

One is a statue and the other is a monkey.  You read that right.

We measured our wingspans.  A pelican (that shall not be named because this tired Mama has forgotten the specific one) has a 10 ft.  wingspan.......whaaaaaaat?!?!?

We watched the elephants get pedicures.  We were inside of the building, which is why they're in cages instead of their large enclosure.  They are such smart and tender creatures.  I get sad when I go to zoos because I hate seeing these beautiful, wild animals in such small captivity.  On the other hand, it's great to have them at our finger tips so that we can expose and educate our children about the animals.  It's a catch-22.

Doesn't D look thrilled?  He was nap-deprived here.

Beautiful giraffes....

....and a beautiful boy holding his favorite toy, which happens to be a giraffe.

Bologna sandwich time!  (Side note: lately Cal has been telling me that he wants a bologna sandwich and macaroni and cheese for dinner.  I reply with, "If you're lucky"......but inside my head I'm shouting with joy.  What an easy dinner and one that's actually been requested?!!?  I'll take it....processed meat and all.)

Davis has started drinking a little water and is a big fan of it!

6 months old!

Davis Mark Walter is 6 months old.  He is 23 lbs. (97th %ile) and 27.5" long (85th %ile).  Big D Bug sits independently and can successfully palm a ball (see video at the bottom!).  He tracks his dogs and big brother and aches to follow them.  Davis will eat a variety of foods, but not in large quantities.  I'm excited for him to get some teeth so that I can give him puffs and little bits of food. I think he'll be much more interested in eating then!

Davis is such a mellow and happy fellow.  I just love and appreciate his patience.  We are always on the go with a busy toddler, errands to run, and play dates to attend.  I worry that we just tote our baby around between errands and games being played.  However, he is so easy going that he responds really well and just goes with the flow.....unless he's tired and then he needs a little 1-on-1, quiet time to relax and wind down before a nap or bedtime.

You are such a blessing, big guy.

Family pics

We had family pictures taken a few weeks ago and they turned out great!  My friend, Tara Converse, took them for us.  We lifeguarded together in Manhattan and she just moved to town.

Cal was in a sour mood for this photo session, which is unusual because he usually loves have his picture taken!?!  The day was thick with a nearly three year old's tantrums, but we still got some good shots despite his rotten mood.  :)  In all honesty, he was due for a bad photo shoot....he's been so good up until this point.  In his defense, it was kind of hot outside and we were right beside his favorite park.  In hindsight, I might've set myself up for failure by choosing this location!!!
