Oh...one more, for good measure.

Out of nowhere, Cal sang this tonight and my heart soared.  Davis was in his walker and even stood still and watched his big brother belting out this tune.  I made him do a repeat performance because it was so sweet.

More "little things"

I've been really focusing on documenting the "little things" that happen in our day-to-day lives.  I know we'll look back on these days and wonder how our boys were ever this small.  So, this post may be full of mundane details and insubstantial videos to some, but to us they are things we never want to forget!

Just a quick quote:  Cal asked if we could eat "sister bobs" again soon.  I guess he really liked the shish kabobs that I made over Easter!  ha

Mitch was out of town on Thursday and Friday night for conferences in KC.  The boys and I kept busy and had lots of fun, but we were all happy when their daddy got home on Saturday morn!

Cal has seen the movie, Frozen, but didn't show a huge interest in it.  Apparently he's heard the girls singing it a lot at school.  Belt it out, Caligator!

Cal loves to tell stories now.  He includes his toys as the main characters and creates stories full of dialogue and action.  This is just a short clip of Friday night's bath and how he plays and talks to his toys.

Cal likes to help me feed Davis.  He was entertaining him on Friday night and kept him happy while I spooned oatmeal and bananas into D's mouth.

Cal got into bed with me on Friday night and slept sideways for most of the night.  Not conducive to a great night's sleep, but what can ya do?!  Davis decided he didn't want to sleep in his crib or bassinet after his 4am feeding, so he also hopped into bed with us.  Do you see that slim spot between the boys?  That's where I slept, errrrr, tried to sleep.  Mama was tired come Saturday morn!

Davis was taking a nap on Saturday morning, so Cal went downstairs with me while I sorted through some boxes.  I spilled my coffee and had to use carpet cleaner to get the spot out.  He thought this was great fun, so I gave him a bottle full of water and let him "clean" the basement.  He was pretty thorough.  :)  I think I found a rainy day activity!  I can foresee us doing this with some kool-aid or food coloring in the water....instant art project!

"It's just a little bit dirty."  lol!

After his cleaning expedition, I set out some art supplies and when I came back he'd done this.  Thanks, cousin Tessa, for all of these stickers!  He loves (loved) them.  :)

Before Mitch got home on Saturday morn, the boys and I kept busy outside with a walk and playing dinosaurs in the front yard.

After D's nap, we had a picnic in the front yard and played dinosaurs.  It was about 70 degrees out when we started, but when we were done with our outdoor time an hour and a half later, the temps were in the low 80's.  It was a beautiful day!

Davis doesn't look too excited about his dinosaur.  ha!

Kisses!

We went on a walk after our picnic.  Cal insisted that he just wanted to walk and run, but midway through he got tired.  This meant that I had to carry him on my back while pushing the stroller.  It was a great workout, at least!

Yes....true mom moment:  tired, makeup free, and I probably haven't even brushed my teeth in this pic.  Who cares....we had fun.

Davis didn't seem to care that I had a 38 lb. gangly monkey on my back.

Cal got tired of the piggy back ride and wanted to run.....then push the stroller "all by me-self".

He got distracted when he saw some puddles.  Time for a splash dance!

He found some strange root and called it a worm.

Davis decided to take his second nap of the morning.  #greatsleeper

On Sunday, Cal had his dancing shoes on and showed us his "booty dance".  Apparently his pal, Noah, from school does this frequently and taught Cal.   I'm afraid to say it, but I think he inherited his parents' dancing abilities.  :)

I love hearing laughter in our house and now Davis offers his pretty frequently.  What a great sound!

We finally got some sand for the sandbox.  Cal was so excited!  Davis didn't care for it too much!

This is what's happening in this picture:
Me:  "Cal, can you hold your brother up?  Make sure he doesn't go face first into the sand."

Smiley boys!!

Monday mornings are always rough around here.  None of the boys wanted to get up, Mitch included.  lol

Davis is 5 months old!

This big guy is 5 months old already!

"What?  Who said that?"

Our big guy (or as Cal's dubbed him, "Little Fella") is 22 lbs. and 27.5" long.  He wears mostly 18 month clothing, but can squeeze into some 12-18 month outfits.

Davis loves to grab things and immediately put them into his mouth.  Lately, his toes have been his #1 focus, especially when he's getting a diaper change.  His pudgy belly gets in his way, but with a little assistance, he is successful.  :)

He still sleeps well for us.  He goes to bed anywhere from 6:30-7:30pm and sleeps until midnight or 4am (those seem to be the two most consistent hours that he wakes up).  I usually wake him up around 7:15am so we can get out of the door on time!

Davis loves to talk, screech, and now....make raspberries!

Davis can sit up on his own for several minutes, but still topples over at times.  He is getting stronger and stronger!  He likes to eat his oatmeal if it's mixed with squash, sweet potatoes, or bananas.  I gave him pears one night, but they weren't his absolute favorite.

We borrowed this walker from the Ecks and Davis LOVES it!  I didn't think he'd know how to move around in it, but boy was I wrong.

Within 20 minutes, he got the hang of it and motored around pretty well!

You've made our lives full of happiness these last 5 months.  We all love you so much, sweet baby boy.

Ear "confection"

After Cal's bath on Tuesday, he started screaming that his ear hurt.  We thought maybe his tube had fallen out and he was having a strange sensation, but after an hour of tears we knew it was something more.  In the middle of the night, he awoke with a fever.  I shouldn't say "awoke" since he didn't sleep much at all.  He rolled around in our bed all night and I was up with him every hour.  The poor kiddo was in pain.  Luckily, a trip to the doctor resulted in some ear drops that will quickly zap the infection.

This is where the ear infection got funny.  When I took him to the doctor, she walked in and he said...."I'm Cal.  I have an ear confection."  :)  She then listened to his lungs and he was giggling that it tickled.  I told him that she was listening to his breathing and he sat really still.  He said, "You hear that doctor?  Yep....you hear that."  She started cracking up, as did I.

We got home and both of us took a long nap.  Ollie wanted to make sure Cal was feeling better, so she cuddled up next to him all morning.

When we woke up, he said, "I know!  A popsicle will make my ear feel better!"  I can't argue with that logic, especially when it's 80 degrees and sunny outside.

He's on the mend now and hopefully we're done with all illnesses, aches, and stomach bugs for(ever) a long time.

Davis wanted to show off his big boy clothes (all 12-18 month).
"Hi, I'm Davis and I'm humongous."

A visit from the California Walters and Easter 2014

Yes, it is April and our Bradford Pear trees are blooming.  Yes, that is green grass in our lawn.  Yes, that is snow.  One of these things doesn't belong with the others.

Davis wanted to get all spiffed up for his first meeting with Grandpa Walt Walt and Grandma Sooz.  He is big enough now that he can stretch out in the tub and enjoy the bath a bit more.  D loves watching the waterfalls when I pour the cup over his tummy.

Walt and Sooz flew in late Thursday night.  Cal was so excited to see them that he barged into their room early on Friday morning to say hi.  At least he's a cute welcoming party, albeit an early one.

Cal was pretty excited to wear his new goggles.  I wish I was that excited about getting in a swimming suit.  Can I swim in yoga pants this summer?

It was so warm after Cal's swimming lessons that we went to Eastborough Park to burn off some of C's boundless energy.

Look who joined him on the slide!

Mama's turn!

Garth, Keiu, and Ty joined us at the park.  Cal was SO excited to see "my Ty".

When we go home that afternoon, Grandma Sooz and Cal dyed some Easter eggs.

We have some pretty cute Easter bunnies!

Before bed that night, Cal planted some jelly beans.  When the Easter Bunny came that night, he watered the beans so they could grow into candy!

The Bunny also left a trail of marshmellows so that the boys could find their Easter baskets.  Cal woke up at 6:30am and was raring to discover what magical things the Bunny had done.  For that reason, the very tired Easter Bunny hopped out of bed (I'm punny, I know) and got the trail created and the suckers planted before the sun was up.  :)

They boys were pretty excited about their goodies!  Cal ate handfuls of candy before I could tear the bucket out of his little mitts.

Of course I couldn't get a pic of them smiling together!

Not to be left out of the action.....

Davis is so interested in the dogs!  He kicks his arms and legs when they're near (mostly towards Ollie) and wants to pet them, as you can see here.

Each time he found an egg, he shouted...."EGG!!!!!!!!!"

Later that day, we hid eggs in the house and Cal found them.  We switched roles and then we found them, only Cal couldn't stand the suspense and he'd shout, "There's one!  It's right here!!!!", leading us right to the egg.  Funny kid.

After his Easter nap, Cal wore his Superman shirt and played a little pants-less golf.  (His latest obsession is peeing in the yard.  Hence the pants-less play.)  Who has time to pull their pants up when there's golf to be played?

Our attempt at a family picture....nobody smiles at the same time.  :)

That night, he enjoyed reading a few bedtime stories with Grandma Walt and Grandma Sooz before he hit the hay.

We had a great time with the California Walters!  Thanks for visiting us!!
