Cal's good friend....."Worawei".

Cal made a good friend this summer named Loralei.  We met her and her mom at his My Gym class and then began making play dates.  They are two peas in a pod and act more like brother and sister than friends.  Megan, her mom, is a lot like me and we have a great time gabbing while the kids run each other ragged!

Because his daycare was closed for inservice, Megan watched Cal for 2 days while I was at work.  He LOVED going to "Worawei's house."  Here are some pics of his adventures with his new buddy.

They wanted to hold hands while picking up Wyatt, Loralei's brother, from Kindergarten.

Megan is really active and fit.  She pushed these two year olds while jogging one morning.  There's nothing like an extra 80 lbs. of children to help you work up a sweat!!!

Cal's new daycare is really nice, but he's having a difficult time adjusting to it.  For instance, this morning I knew it would be an interesting drop off because when he woke up he told me, "Not going school today.  No go.  Not nice."  UGH.  It tears me up when I have to leave him and he's crying for me.  I hate it.  HATE IT.  I know it'll get better, but it really starts the day off on a sad note.  The positive news is that I know he does have fun once he's there because he's always in a great mood when I go pick him up.  He told me after school today that "school was fun", so perhaps we're making progress!

Check out my two big boys!  I'm 6 and a half months along and am getting much bigger, much quicker with this pregnancy.  Although it's a struggle to keep up with Cal's energy level, I hate to turn down that little kid when he wants to play.  However, I will be honest in saying that I look forward to 6:30pm each night when I know Mitch will be home.  Mama is ready to drop by that point.

new skills

He has independently dubbed this new addition, "Cal's door".

Cal has become quite the batter lately!  He swings the bat and golf club left handed, but throws with his right.  Ambidextrous?

A whole lotta Caligator

Summer vacation is screeching to a halt and we've been enjoying some sun, but also.....you might wanna brace yourself for this one.....over 15" of rain!!!  For years, Kansas has been aching for a break in the drought and aside for extreme western KS, we are seeing it!  However, there can be too much of a good thing and some parts are bracing for extreme flooding.

We've been spending a good portion of our days indoors or on play dates with some new friends.  Cal LOVES making friends and really enjoys playing with all of their toys.  :)  Here's a video that Katie sent me from when she watched him the other day.  He didn't want to leave their house, by the way.

Cal likes to help me cook lately.  We've made muffins, fruit salad, quesadillas, etc.  However, his flour/dry pasta concoction was perhaps his favorite dish.

He's starting taking midday bubble baths.....

....with Mitch.....

.....and the dogs.

Don't get grossed out.  We rewashed Cal after he bathed the dogs.  :)

We've also been invertebrate activists and saved worms from drowning in the swollen streets and flooded gutters.  Being an avid hat wearer, Cal selected this gem to go worm hunting.

After worm hunting, Cal and Mitch practiced fishing in the garage.  I think they'll venture out to the nearby pond soon!

Cal is such a jabberbox.  He's started saying, "Hey....how you doin'?" to all things and people.  Here he is asking his ouchie how things are going.
