Our weekend

After school, the boys and I usually take a walk around the neighborhood and end up at the park.  Cal really wanted to take Davis all by himself.  Sorry, Bud....not yet.

Casting my hatred for spiders aside, I caught a wolf spider one day and put it in Cal's bug catcher.  He was so excited about it and showed all the neighbors.  I drew the line and made the spider sleep in the garage and the next morning, we released it FAR away from the house in a flower garden.  I know that where there is one, there are many more.  I also NOW know that wolf spiders jump.  I'm thanking the dear Lord that this one didn't do so.....and it should be thanking him to, if you catch my drift.

Davis and I did a little reading before school one day.  He loves books and enjoys flipping the pages and pointing to things.

I took D back to the doctor on Friday and he had another ear infection.  I sure hope he isn't headed towards ear tubes.  He chewed on my bracelets while we waited for the doc.

He got his flu shot while we were there and didn't flinch or cry!!

The big guy was determined to get outside before nap time.  He loves being outdoors!

We actually went back to the doctor later that day so that Cal could get his flu shot (via a nasal spray)!

After our day of flu shots (Mama got one, too), we determined that ice cream would make us feel better. Mitch got one earlier this week and missed out on the yummy dessert!

The boys were a sticky mess after dinner.  Baths all around!

We got up early on Saturday and drove to Manhattan for the game.
Papa gave Cal a lift while we walked around the lots....

...and later, he gave him a sucker!  He doesn't like candy at all, can you tell?

Cal played with his friend, Alex, during the game.  They've been coming to the games since they were both 3 months old (she's a month younger than him) and they love playing with each other.  They ran and ran and ran.  Davis wanted to join in so badly!

Cat fans!

"Papa gave me licorice!"

"That's not yours, Papa....I want it back."

Cal cashed out during the 3rd quarter, so we left.

Davis wasn't far behind.  He fell asleep while we walked out to the van.

He slept for most of the ride home.  When he woke up,  he read from one of his favorite books!

Mitch had a hair raising good time at the game!
I crack myself up.

I took the boys to the park and met a few friends,. There was a gaggle of boys running around the park once we all got there. We all had so much fun!  I absolutely love this pic!

We got home and Mitch had cooked the entire dinner!  He's the best!  I think Davis would agree.

Davis is 10 months old!

Davis had a very productive month.  He learned to walk independently (at 9.5 months), started sleeping through the night (most nights), and had two sets of ear infections.  He's starting to thin out because he's walking everywhere.  He's still wearing 2T's and size 4 diapers.

-Davis started crawling on 9/2 and walking on 9/14....his daddy's birthday!
-Cal and Davis play together quite frequently.  Davis is all boy and loves trucks and trains, so Cal will get down on the floor with him and roll the trucks back and forth.
-He's such a screech owl and shrieks in opposition.  To really make his point, he arches his back so it's nearly impossible to pick him up!
-I moved the mattress down on his crib because he started standing up.
-He got his first terrible cold and was up frequently at night.  On 9/15/14, I took you to the doctor and you had a mild case of enterovirus and a double ear infection.  Breathing treatments and antibiotics helped tremendously.
-Davis loves playing peek-a-boo, especially during diaper changes!
-He's starting to become interested in climbing stairs.
-Davis loves dancing to music and reading books!

Playing catch-up

I love how Cal is cheering him on in this clip.  He's such a sweet brother!  He started crawling around much, much quicker a few days after this video was taken.  This was on 9/2/14:

Cal got some new shoes (because he outgrew his Size 10 sandals in 2 months....now wearing a size 11.5) and he specifically requested "lightening shoes".  He is still SOOOOO excited about them!

Davis didn't want to put his new crawling skill on display because he was too busy perfecting THIS new skill on 9/11/14:

He is a full-on walker now!  He falls down, picks himself back up, and then continues motoring around.  This was taken on 9/23/14:

Look who found the Kleenex box!

He clearly wasn't having any fun.....

....at all.
Big brother wanted in on the fun!
As did our fat little OB.....
The weather has been beautiful lately!  Mitch had to go into work on Saturday, so once Davis went down for his morning nap, Cal and I were super busy.  We painted, hunted for bugs, played a plethora or sports, hop scotched, and ate lunch.  Whew!  Cal (and his mama) took a good nap that day.
Hell hath no fury like an overtired toddler.....naps are the best.

When Mitch came home, he gave Cal some "war paint" with the chalk.
Davis woke up and joined us for lunch! He loves to hold the spoon, but unless mashed potatoes are on it, he does nothing but fling the food around the room.
He's very clingy to me around 5:30pm each night and I struggle to get dinner made some nights.  I try to buy some time by giving him lots of noisy bowls and spoons.....it buys me about 10 minutes.  Hey, I'll take it!  :)

This week......sickies.

The Birthday Boy decided that we should spend the morning at the Sedgwick Co. Zoo for his bday.  The crisp morning air was perfect and we spent a few hours exploring (and running from the bees).
Mitch opened his carefully wrapped present, with some assistance from Caligator.

That afternoon, Davis woke up and was running a high fever.  Both of the boys had caught my cold last week and it hit them hard.  Cal just got my cough, but Davis got my cough, wheezing, and apparently my fever.  I took them to the doctor on Monday and Davis had the beginning stages of the enterovirus that is spreading throughout the Midwest.  He also had a double ear infection, poor kid!  Luckily, we have been able to manage and treat it at home through breathing treatments and antibiotics.  Cal was starting to wheeze, so she prescribed him an inhaler to help knock out his cough.  I'm happy to report that both boys have turned the corner and are on the mend.  I'm so thankful for medicine and our doctors!

Since they've started feeling better, we visited Petsmart and this is the first time that Davis really noticed all the animals.  He loved it!

His hands are blurry because he was banging on the glass.....poor birds.

Cal was using his binoculars that he made at school.   He was "reading the map" and telling us where to go next.

I stayed home with our sick Davis on Friday, Monday, and then Mitch stayed with him for a few hours on Tuesday morning so I could run in and see all my students back-to-back.  I took him to daycare on Wednesday and he did ok, but didn't eat much.  He still doesn't have much of an appetite.

The weather was nice and cool (up until the last few days when it rose back into the 90's), so we played outside when the boys wanted.

Davis was helping clean up the chocolate pudding.

Cal got a new haircut this week!  I put some gel in his hair and he looked so darn cute!  Doesn't he look so much older?!

Davis has started tearing my Tupperware cabinet apart.  He loves it!

On Wednesday afternoon, I could tell that Davis was feeling better because he was back to his ornery self!
