Mitch's swearing in ceremony and a weekend full of baseball

Mitch was sworn in on Friday and the ceremony was a celebration of all the hard work he and his classmates put into school and the Bar Exam.  Mom and Dad came up for the ceremony.  That afternoon, the boys went golfing even though it was in the 40's and raining.  Hey, they needed to celebrate!

He is taking the oath here.

We had a great weekend full of baseball games.  Mitch said he hasn't been to that many games in one weekend since he played.  On Saturday, we went to the KSU vs. TCU game.  It was a beautiful 60 degree day, so we grabbed a few hot dogs and some popcorn and plopped down on a bench.  The stadium looks amazing.  The field has been sodded and the stadium has been expanded.   It is beautiful!

This was taken about 2.5 seconds before Mitch caught the foul ball that was careening towards the unaware pair of Cal and I.  You know that feeling when the crowd around you is shrieking and covering their heads, but you don't want to look up to find the ball because that's the exact moment that you'll inevitably be hit in the face with the it?   Ya......me neither.

Doesn't he look thrilled?

He was tracking Willie.

Caught him!

Cal enjoyed the game and really enjoyed running around on the grassy stretch near left field.  The Cats were victorious and we had a great day at the ballgame!

We packed up and headed to KC this morning for a day with the Royals.  The temp topped out at 80 and there was a slight breeze that provided some much needed relief since we were sitting in direct sunlight the entire game.

He kept yanking his hat off, but he tolerated it for small periods of time at least.  Small victories are what we're looking for here, people.

No hat?  Fine, we'll try the sunglasses.

He wore them for a bit and then they were thrown on the ground with the hat, but not before he stared at the sun for a few seconds.  Safe, right?

Luckily, there is a "kid zone" at Kauffman Stadium and Cal was able to cool off in the splash pad and play on the huge jungle gym.

Cal kept trying to drink from this germ trough as though it were a water fountain.  Gag.

It was another great day full of baseball for the Walters.  Play ball!

Cal's girlfriend at daycare

This was Cal and Avery walking to the park on Monday.

I think Avery is taking the lead during this dance!

New Bath Toy

While I was filling up his tub, Cal said, "No more wa-wa, Mama."  I couldn't believe it!

"Sprinter"

Kansas is facing a new season......"Sprinter".  It's April 23rd and spring has sort of sprung, but the snow storms and freezing temps are placing us Kansans in a state of cold confusion.

The local news station posted this on their Facebook.  Pretty funny.

I went to Nashville this weekend for my good friend Suzanne's bachelorette party.  We had a great weekend celebrating one of her final hurrahs as a single lady.

We ate at a famous pancake house near Vanderbilt University.  It was amazing and was totally worth the 45 minute wait!

We had a great time on 2nd Street.  Don't Suz and I look good all tatted up?  Nope, I tried though.

Our second stop was at a local watering hole.  The live music was fantastic and every bar had a singer or two, at any given time of day.  Loved it!  (Side note:  Thanks to the idiot nobody that decided to photo bomb our perfectly good picture!)

That night we went to Pucketts, a delicious Southern restaurant with more live good music.

The next day we all split up.  Hoff and I did a little shopping and I had to geek it up and take a picture in front of The Bluebird CafĂ©.  I love the show NASHVILLE so I had to get a pic in front of this place.

This is how packed the bars are during the day.  The singer was a really good performer and delivered a mix of great tunes and funny jokes.

The Bachelorette!

We've been good friends since 1999, when our parents mandated that we both attend Girls State.  We met and became instant buds.

This isn't the best picture, but he wouldn't stand still very long.  I got him this shirt in Nashville.  Maybe he's working on his lip curl?

Mom came up and babysat Cal on Friday and then it was a total guy's weekend.  Mitch and Cal had a great time playing at the park, watching Nemo, and laughing with each other.  I was very excited to get back on Sunday to see my boys!

Playing outside.....ALL THE TIME....and loving it!

Cal was tuckered out after going to Alex Hachenberg's 2nd birthday party.

Cal's quite the cleaner.  Lately when he spills something, he runs to the entry way closet and gets his push broom.

Here's my big helper while I get ready in the morning.  He is drinking out of my contact container.  Don't fret, it was rinsed out prior to his imbibing.

The weather has been so nice lately that we've spent the majority of our days and evenings outside.

Mowing!

Sliding!

"Up, Mama!"  I love how he says, "Otay".  We'll work on the /k/ later on, Caligator.

Hunting ants!

He kept pretending to eat the acorns.

Then he cackled as I took them away and threw them.

Still laughing!

Time for a t-ball session!  Mitch is a little sad to see that Cal's right hand dominance is emerging when he throws and swings.  No worries....I'm sure he'll still be a stellar athlete like his Daddy!

This is Cal's new take on swinging.

Bubbles!

"Airplane!"
