Blue or Pink?

Cal was covering his bases before our gender sono appointment this morn:

He was half right.....it's a BOY!!!

My doctor's appointment really wore him and all of his Mickeys out.  We had to find Big Mickey, Little Mickey, and Baby Mickey before he could fall asleep.  "Where'd Big Ickey doe?"

When I have time, I love napping with him and he usually naps longer in our bed.  So for the sake of the glorious, respite of nap time, I usually put him in our room for my his welfare.

When I put him to bed tonight, I laid down with him and asked, "What should we name your little brother?"  At first he said "Choo Choo" and then changed his mind and decided on "Sucker".  I guess I'll have to keep asking before we all agree on a name.

Busy day

We took Cal to an airshow today.  He's still talking about the "blue airplane in the blue sky"!

He loved watching the airplanes land.

When we got home, we turned on our sprinkler system to make sure it worked and luckily it does!  We weren't the only ones happy about it.  Happy dog, happy toddler.

We went to our neighbors' pool this afternoon and Cal learned how to jump off of the side of the pool and the diving board.  When we got home, Cal wasn't ready to stay inside.  Instead, he wanted to do these things:

Also, I snapped a pic of Cal in his bed.  Not gonna lie, this wasn't at bedtime.  It was staged and yes he was naked from the waist down, which is probably why he's grinning so widely.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Cal!!!

Cal had a great second birthday.  In fact, he was so excited to kick his big day off that he woke us up at 6am and was raring to go.  Mitch and I were up until about midnight putting his train table together.  No toy should be that difficult to assemble.  If I weren't pregnant, I would've been drinking leaded beer instead of unleaded.  Mitch took the reigns and luckily the table is now a sturdy contraption.

He also loved his Rodee from Grandma and Grandpa Walt!  He no longer falls off of it.....unless it's on purpose.  Then he rolls over and says, "Ugh.....I duck" (stuck).

Baba Belle and Aunt Lily sent a goody bag full of fun toys.  Cal's favorite is the kazoo.  Mitch and I listened to him the other day as he sang/hummed his "all aboard the choo choo train" song on it.  Pretty cute.

I've Cal's been craving a chocolate sheet cake lately so that's what I made him for his birthday cake.  He absolutely loved blowing out the candles and luckily he loved the dessert, too.

I don't blame you, Cal.  I have a hard time waiting when it comes to dessert, too.  He usually naps around 1 and on this day it took him two extra hours to fall asleep because of the sugar high.  Whoops.

Side note: Ever since I unpacked his Big Mickey, they've been attached at the hip.  As you can tell, Mickey (usually called, "Biiiiiiiiiig Ittey!!!!) partook in the birthday celebration.  The other day they began their ritual of taking naps together.

We spent Saturday playing around the house and then took him to the pool that afternoon.  We celebrated with Mimi, Papa, Aunt Susie, and Great Grandma on Sunday.

"Who's got a new tricycle from Mimi and Papa?".........."I do!!!!!!", says Cal.  (This phrase applies to all areas of his life.  "Who has a doo doo diaper?"....."I do!")

Cal was showing us how strong he is.  MUSCLES!!!

Notice I'm holding down his squirmy little hands and legs in order to get a family pic.  This kid is full of boundless energy!

Papa had to trap him in order to get a pic with the toy that Uncle Tony sent him.  I foresee Donnie having a grand time with this water ball, as well!

He loves his new sound puzzles from Great Grandma!

She thought he needed his own "Cheesy Turtle"!  He loves it and now Cheesy is sitting beside our front door welcoming our guests.

He loves rocking in these chairs.

We got Cal a big boy full sized bed for his birthday.  He was pretty excited about it once we got it set up and the bed rails installed.  I will get a pic of him in it soon....so adorable.  Big Mickey sleeps on one side and Little Mickey on his other side.  Thanks to everyone for making his birthday such a special one!!!

Busy boy

Cal and I go to the YMCA nearly every day after his nap.  He loves the "sprinklers" in the splash pad, the wave pool, and the kiddie slides.  We ate some ice cream when we got home yesterday.  A day at the pool followed by ice cream is every toddler's dream.....as well as this Mama's.  ,

I was sitting in the chair taking a break from Hurricane Cal when this started happening.

Silly me for thinking I'd found a good place to store the towels.  Even sillier that I thought I could take a break.  :)

I started water this morn around 7am and when Cal saw the "pintler" he tore his diaper off and went to play.  Breakfast was put on hold.

new videos

Since we've all been under one roof again, Mitch and Cal have started playing golf every night.  Cal colors and eats with his right hand, but swings his bat and golf club with his left?!?  It'll be interesting to see how this ambidexterity plays out.

He expanded his vocabulary this week.  :)

The big move

We made it!  Luckily everything, nearly everything arrived in one piece.  I'm pretending our basement isn't part of our house right now because the amount of boxes down there is egregious and I get overwhelmed when I think about where to put everything.  The main and second floors are coming together and are nearly box-free, which is the way I like to be.  :)  Regarding our basement, I told Tony that "I know Rome wasn't built in a day, which is probably why it's a good thing I'm not Roman because I'm not patient enough to wait for things to come together".  Atleast I'm honest about my neurosis.

I'll post more videos later, but there's lots to report, here goes:

Cal and I stayed at my folks' house for about a week while we tried to close on our house.  Our belongings sat in a Uhaul in Wichita for that week, which was less than desirable.  While we were home, we kept Mimi and Papa busy and saw Great Grandma every day and ate an abundance of wonderful food.

Kay and Dave watched Cal while we got the Uhaul loaded.  They are so wonderful.  Have I mentioned how much we're going to miss them?!  Cal got them a present before we left.  The back story is that Big Dave found a box turtle on the golf course one day and brought it home for a few weeks.  The kids named it "Cheesy Gabrielle".  So now every time Cal sees a turtle, it's name is "Cheesy"! ha  This turtle garden statue was a must have for the Howertons.

We played at all the parks in Larned while back home.  That town has some amazing parks and Cal loves each of them!

Trying out the track at the High School....

Cal was just catching up on his social media:
We can't go to Larned in the summer without stopping at the Splash Pad!

I don't have a particular pic to post, but Cal loves his "yoccer ball" and his "yuckers".  He'll say the /s/ when I say it first but it's pretty darn cute how he says it now.

Cal and Jaci had a great time at the Great Bend Zoo.  It was so good to catch up with my good friend, Kayla!

Cal fell off the back porch one day at Great Gma's.  It was a big "ouchie", but he recovered quickly and his scarring will be minimal, I think.

It looked better the next day....errrr, a little bit better.

Even ol' Donnie got hurt while back in Larned.  He refuses to slow down, even though he can't see where he's zooming off to in full force, and because of that he ran head first into my folks' brick wall in the back yard.  Poor guy.

He insisted on a blue donut while we were at Dillons and he couldn't possibly wait until we were home, or atleast in the car, to eat it.  He's definitely entered his opinionated, independent phrase......do you like how I worded that?  :)

We are going to start potty training soon, so Cal needed to pick out his potty chair.  His lips are blue because much like his affinity for blue donuts, he prefers blue suckers because they always leave evidence.

For right now, he just enjoys going into the bathroom, shutting the door (because every 2 year old needs privacy), and fake grunting.  He'll then get up and grab a wad of toilet paper to throw into the real toilet.  However, on this day it was a wee bit more than a wad.
