Trip to Larned

Last weekend, on Saturday the 6th, Cal started swimming lessons at the YMCA.  He loves to swim, aka play and romp around where he can touch, so he was excited to start the class.  Everything went smoothly until I purposely let him go under water a bit when he jumped in.   He popped up and told me that he was "ready to go".  Whoopsie.  He clung to me for dear life after that.  (Since I'm a week behind in posts due to the stomach virus I had for 4 days, I can fast forward and tell you that he enjoyed his class this week immensely.  He still wasn't thrilled about letting his head go under.

Smiley boy....who hates his cereal.  (In the back of my mind, I'm hearing Cal say, "Don't say that word."  He is the Word Police lately......"hate" is a bad word.)

We went to Larned after his lesson and the car ride was pretty cramped.  Donnie commandeered the front seat and the boys, Ollie, and I sat in the back.

The boys settled in on Mimi and Papa's bed for a little Monster's University, a new fave of Cal's.

Mitch played in a golf tournament with Dad on Sunday so we took the boys to the park.  It was extremely windy, but Cal had so much fun playing with Mimi.  Grandma and I found a bench and sat for awhile while Davis slept.  Before we left, Grandma helped Cal on the merry-go-round!

When we got home, Cal played outside and apparently was quite interested in the NCAA tourney.

Come Monday morn, we were all pretty tired.  Someone didn't want to get up, so I laid him on the couch for a bit while we ate breakfast.

Despite being tired, the boys put on a happy face.  I dressed Davis in the"Caligator" onesie (size 12 months) that I made for Cal when he was 6 months old.  Davis fits in it perfectly at 4.5 months....big boy.

...and this is where the week turned south for me.  I came home on Tuesday night not feeling quite right.  Late that night, I woke up with the full blown stomach flu and it didn't go away for 4 days.   Brutal.  I'm so thankful that my mom responded to my 5:30am desperation text on Wednesday morn and came to my rescue.  She nursed me back to health and took care of my family when I couldn't.  Between her and Mitch, the household ran smoothly.....and I am so grateful for their help.

  1. Grandmas are the glue of a family, i think. I bet she was exhausted when she left....raising kids is for the young for sure...but its wonderful to have your mom near you now....
