Just a week after his first ear infection, Cal woke up in pain and had another one. At first, I couldn't tell if he was buffaloing me, though. He was crying, but then the tears stopped when he asked for a popsicle at 6am. I began to question him and he'd tell me that "yes my ear hurt", but then declare that "No, I'm fine." in the next breath. I was so confused, but I took him to the doctor to be sure.
Good thing I did.....he definitely had another infection. Within a week's time, his tubes had both fallen out. The doctor has since referred us to an ENT in town to have another set put in. Unfortunately he hasn't grown out of it, so we're looking at his second set of tubes to be put in this summer.
Someone felt great that morning and was full of smiles and conversation.
This is the type of confusing conversation I repeatedly had with Cal before our appointment. "I'm sick....I'm fine. My ear hurts....it feels great." Tears, smiles, tears, laughs, repeat.
When we were waiting for the doctor, he was very interested in the posters on the wall.
After his appointment, I had to run a few errands. Ear infection or not, this kid strives to be fashionable.
We stopped for a cheeseburger and fries at our favorite....Freddy's! Cal rarely eats anything better than a burger and fries from this place. I'll take it.
When we got home, we were both tired. I fell asleep first but quickly woke up to Caligator jumping off of our bed. I finally got him settled down and then I woke up later to find this. #typicalmale
Cal's ENT appointment is scheduled for the end of the month. I'm sure that this consultation will turn into a second set of tubes. Honestly, I'll take the tubes over him being in pain and having to take meds that upset his tummy. Bring 'em on, Doc. Bring 'em on.
