Bowling, Super Bowl, and Weaning

I went in to check on Cal before I went to bed one night and found him in this strange position.  :)

We took the boys bowling on Sunday with our friends, the Schlatters.  Davis wanted to take EVERY SINGLE BALL off of the shelves.

Once we got the ball ramp for Cal, he knocked a lot more pins down!

Ashley's due in a few months.  She wears pregnancy well!

He got a spare!

.....the resident candy thief.....well, the miniature version.  The adult version is typing this blog.

Davis's turn!

Cal and I were watching the KSU game one night, while Mitch was at the game.  He ate SO much that night.  He kept sneaking back to the fridge to grab food: leftover Mexican food, cereal and milk, etc.  It was a peak into his teenage years and it made my pocketbook a little nervous!

We had two record breaking warm days in January.....temps in the 70's!  The boys and I played outside for hours after school each day.  It was a peak into what we have to look forward to this summer and I CANNOT WAIT to spend the days with my babes.

Davis was loading his dump truck with rocks and zooming it around.

We got home that night and made brinner.  :)  Cal helped make and flip the blueberry pancakes!  The boys don't care for blueberries by themselves, but eat them in pancakes.

Davis's hair is starting to get long in the back, but it's still sparse in places on top.  He has curls immediately after baths and when he first wakes up, but as the day wears on his hair starts to get fuzzy!

Look at those lashes.....beautiful boy.

The weather remembered that it was January and not March, so the temps started to dip one day.  The boys didn't want to give up their outside time, so we bundled up and played sports.

We've got a runaway golfer!

Davis ate meat and potatoes like a champ that night.  He loved the meatloaf and mashed potatoes, especially because they were fairly easy to scoop up on the fork.  He's eating right handed here....keeping us on our toes!

My parents adopted this sweet girl from the Great Bend Humane Society last week!  We have yet to meet Sunny, but she seems like the perfect match for my parents.

I had to take a visit to the dentist this week.  You know the dentist has numbed you up really well when you inadvertently nail an Elvis impression.   Damn you, sweet tooth.....and also.....Damn you, lack of self control!

Cal went to his classmate, Gabby Mayans's birthday party this weekend.  The kids had so much fun at My Gym!

That night, we went to the Eck's house for the Super Bowl.  Davis found his favorite teething object and happily ran around.

The next morning, this little man decided to show his daring side once again.  He is in the climbing stage, can you tell?!

Ollie enjoyed Cal's party favors from the night before.

This big ol' brute supervised out train playing.

Cal is convinced that Sunny is actually named "Bandit", which is the name he voted for.  :)

Sadly, it's the end to an era.  I'm currently weaning Davis, which is extremely bittersweet to me. I have absolutely loved rocking and nursing him to sleep for the past 14 months.  I love our one-on-one time every night, just he and I.  Those peaceful, calm moments were the perfect way to end the day, but now it's time to move on.  I know that my 14 month old will sleep better (and so will I) when I stop nursing him.  He will no longer wake up in the night, standing in his crib yelling "Mama!!!!", screaming for milk.  However, it's hard to think to this future when I'm listening to him cry at bedtime when I leave the room.  I must say that tonight, the second night of weaning, he went down MUCH QUICKER, and I am so thankful for that.
My sweet baby boy...
.....sitting in his crib looking towards the door for me.  :(

  1. I loved reading this one. The boys are hilarious, funny and enchanting. Such busy days with them. I marvel at the energy it takes to do all you do. Thank you for writing this and sharing all the wild times in kansas. Love. B
