Recent pics

Isn't this snowman the funniest?  Grandma bought it for us because she thought Cal would like it.  I love his spindly, long legs.

My handsome brother and pretty Misha....

Bright eyed and bushy tailed!  I took him for his two week check up and he was 9.8lbs and 22" long!  I think they mismeasured him at birth because I doubt he grew 2" in two weeks!  Although he has already outgrown his 0-3 month clothing, so he has grown some!

He is such a snugly little bug!

I've really been working on getting Davis to sleep on his own and in either his crib or pack n play.  We've been making progress!  He let me put him back in the pack n play every time last night, instead of being held or sleeping in his tiny bassinet.  I just want to make sure that he is a better sleeper than Cal was because I feel like did a disservice to him by teaching (enabling) bad sleeping habits.

He had two baths this day.  Multiple baths are necessary when you pee all over your face, body, and the couch with an arc of urine.

Our big boy came home from school and wanted to look at the K-State calendar and football book.  He loves the Cats!!  "Wook!  K-State football stadium!!!  Oh man!"

This is his little bassinet.  It is so nice to have downstairs, especially when I need two free hands!

Cal loved his ornament from P-Paw Walt and Grandma Sooz!

Trying again to win!

COLD temps outside!

It's cold outside here in Kansas  Bitterly cold.  "Temps in the teens" cold.  So we've hunkered down inside.  Cal and Mitch were two peas in a pod with the iPhones and I had to snap a pic!

Davis and I met Grandma in Hutch for lunch on Wednesday.  It is the halfway point between Larned and Wichita and we ate at a delicious home cookin' restaurant.  Davis was wide awake for his visit with his Great Grandma and then slept for the next three hours!

We've been so lucky to have some good friends bring us meals.  It has helped tremendously!  My friend Megan made a meal (dessert and all) and crocheted this cute beanie for Davis! Cal got a new toy car from her kids, Loralei and Wyatt.  Said car is taking a nap with him as we speak.

Davis looks like he's giving the peace sign here!

Snug as a bug!

Cal wasn't afraid of Santa at all!  He went right to him and said he wanted a big bouncy ball and a Christmas tree for Christmas.  I think Santa can handle those requests!

Cal loves to lay on the floor and talk to his little brother.  "Hey, little fella", he says as he strokes his head.  "Tickle tickle!"

Davis has arrived!

Come Sunday the 24th, I was still recovering from the flu and our late night trip to the Birthing Center for false labor, so Mitch was on Cal duty all day.  They had so much fun and Daddy even cooked up a special dinner for his little helper.

Mom took Monday off to come help me recover and to help entertain Cal since he didn't have school that day.   We ran to Target for some Christmas shopping.  Davis was more than ready to make his debut.....can you tell?!  He was so low!!

Cal helped me finish decorating the tree.  We went and picked out his special Christmas ornament....a fire truck!  Since then I've had to buy him an actual fire truck toy car to play with so he'd leave his ornament on the tree.  :)

This is how he spent 30 minutes of our time in the Hallmark store that day.  I thought it was cute and it allowed me to browse.  I won't speculate how the other customers might've felt about his cacophony of noise.

I had had contractions all through the night on Monday, but nothing too strong or timeable.  When I got up on Tuesday, I ran a few errands and came home at noon, which is when they got stronger.  I took a Tylenol and a bath, but that didn't ease the pain.  Eventually, I called Mitch at work and told him that I thought it was real this time.   I was supposed to go to my OB that day at 4pm, but we went straight to to the Birthing Center instead.  They broke my water and started the first of two epidurals. The first didn't take on my right side in my back....not good for back labor!  About 4 hours later, Davis was born!

Nurse:  "We've got a 9 pounder!"
Me:  "Ummm, excuse me?  What?"

9lbs 3oz
20" long

(It was PJ DAY at school that day.) Cal came by on Wednesday after school to meet his baby brother.  He kind of peeked into the room with a smile and asked where Davis was, then broke into a big smile when he saw him.  I pulled him onto the bed with us and he got a good look at Davis.....then wanted to pet and kiss him.  :)

Davis was very busy the day after his birth and bought Cal some Big Brother gifts: a puzzle, a big bulldozer, and a coloring book.....all relatively quiet toys.  :)

Going home!!

Mimi and Papa stayed with Cal while we were at the hospital.  Cal was in heaven.  He later told me that "Mimi and Papa were funny.  Papa bought me Gatorade.  That was nice of Papa."

Out of nowhere, Donnie nearly jumped into the bassinet to smell Davis!

My folks left on Thanksgiving once we got home.  Uncle Bryan and Grandma were making the feast and they had to get back to eat.  Mitch whipped up a delicious meal for us.   The turkey breast was SO GOOD!!  I only made the mashed potatoes and he cooked everything else.  We may need to explore his culinary talents more often!  Cal was pretty excited about the pumpkin pie....and whipped cream.  :)

What do you do with a head strong 2 year old that won't go inside to potty, despite showing obvious signs that he needs to?  This.....you just bribe him with going in the yard.

Davis wasn't a huge fan of the bath, but enjoyed snuggling in his warm blankie afterwards!

The last week or so....

We went to the KSU vs. TCU game last weekend and it's a good thing we did.  It'll be our last game of the season and it was a very intense one to watch!!  We won't go on Saturday because, well....it's my due date AND it's supposed to be 30 degrees with freezing precipitation.  When a reporter asked Bill Snyder if he was worried how the 30 degree weather would affect his team he coolly replied, "That's not cold.  This is Kansas, after all."    :)

I sat most of the day while Mitch and my folks chased Cal around the lot.  He did great during the game and watched most of it while perched on top of my lap or Mitch's shoulders.

39'ish weeks and counting!

I got cut out of this pic, but I love his smile so it was worth keeping.  :)

While I was making dinner last night, Cal wanted to take pictures.  Here are a few:

We'll work on his aim later, but atleast he learned that the camera points outward!

I broke the #1 rule of taking a "selfie".....never take it in the bathroom.  Oh well.  It was easiest this way.

Our dogs live a rough life.  Mitch took this one morn before leaving for work.  I'm sure they stayed in these positions for the next 8 hours.
